Who I am
I am Thomas van Lieshout, an auteur director from the Netherlands. This means that I'm a filmmaker whose personal vision guides every creative aspect of a film, from story and performance to cinematography and tone. With an education at NAVB and experience spanning multiple forms of audiovisual media, I aspire to be an international director of fictional cinema. I'm always eager to collaborate, learn, and, above all, create.
My Story
I have always loved art. The stories, the morals, the deeper thoughts, the symbolism, the feeling behind it all. I didn’t know it then, but I loved it to the depth of my soul, and that love has only grown and continues to evolve.
I am drawn to stories that reveal their meaning when felt and reflected upon through life itself. Stories that speak in emotion rather than explanation. In that sense, I often think of storytelling as something alive where meaning is not fixed, but unfolds differently depending on the moment, the person, and the life being lived.
